I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and the Professional Garden Consultants Association, have been a speaker and panel member at industry events, and give talks to private and public groups about gardening for wildlife.
My professional gardening career was borne from an innate love of the natural world and its conservation, which fuelled my ambition to build my specialism in wildlife gardens and ecological design. I quite literally got the gardening bug, and really am nuts about gardening (or possibly just nuts. The jury is out)
Back in 2007 I became a professional gardener following a successful career in wildlife documentary production, working on programming such as the BBC's ‘Natural World’. I embarked on a new venture creating Lady Penelope Gardens Ltd., and over the next 13 years, this grew into an award-winning company providing expert horticulture to fine and prestigious country gardens and estates. I was privileged for myself and our team to work in heritage gardens including those by Capability Brown and Gertrude Jekyll.
In Spring 2020 I decided it was time to put Lady Penelope into retirement, and it is now with great excitement that I can now give more time to my main passion of ecological gardening.
