WILDLIFE GARDENING - ECOLOGICAL GARDEN AND LANDSCAPE DESIGN - CONSULTANCY & ADVICE - GARDEN APPRAISALS - SPECIALIST PRUNING - PRACTICAL GARDENING & HORTICULTURE
I am an experienced, professional gardener specialising in gardening with nature in mind, based in Petworth West Sussex. I provide a range of services from creating a brand-new wildlife garden, pond, wild area or meadow from scratch, to enhancing an existing space, creating or restoring new borders or working with you over the long-term. I also provide specialist seasonal pruning, for example roses and wisteria, together with practical gardening and horticulture.
Enhancing your garden or land to be more ecologically rich could be as simple as including good planting, creating a pond, leaving an area of lawn unmown, or creating small habitats. For the larger garden or landowner, meadows, hedgerows, tree planting and lakes. The choice is endless, and I relish inspiring and helping you find imaginative and creative ways of giving you an ecologically diverse garden. And this doesn’t mean having an untidy messy garden over-run with nettles (though naturally there will be space left for them!).
I will work with you in a way to suit you and your garden, and critically the surrounding area and landscape connectivity. This could be a consultancy or advisory visit to give you the tools to undertake work yourselves, regular maintenance visits or a full design project, meadow creation or restoration, hedgerow planting, designing a new border perfect for pollinators, woodland management or long-term gentle re-wilding. In a garden setting, I like to use the word 're-naturalising'
I have formed long-standing relationships with other specialists in the field (excuse the pun), such as ecologists, other conservation professionals, landscaping teams, and will be able to project manage all of these specialisms should you need
For larger projects, I am experienced in the understanding and implementation of Conservation Management Plans, Historic Landscape Surveys and Ecological Surveys, and have worked in registered historic parks and gardens and in other designated areas such as local Conservation Areas, SSSIs and National Parks. Where needed I can work on your behalf with conservation bodies such as the Wildlife Trusts, Natural England and the South Downs National Park Authority.
Whatever your needs, I am here to advise, guide and support you. If you would like some help, please do get in touch
